Speaker Bio
Afsana Lallani’s personal and professional journey is a testament to resilience in the face of life-altering challenges. Diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) at 16, she navigated years of liver disease and failure before receiving a lifesaving living donor liver transplant—an experience that fueled both her nursing career and her passion for advocacy. Today, Afsana is a Registered Nurse at Unity Health Toronto, in-patient palliative care, and serves as Transplant Navigator & Patient Support Coordinator at Liver Canada, where she supports patients navigating the transplant journey through education, advocacy, and resource coordination. She is also deeply involved in transplant research and policy as a patient research partner with the Canadian Donation and Transplantation Research Program (CDTRP) and a member of the University Health Network’s Centre for Living Organ Donation advisory committee. Whether at the bedside, within the community, or on national research teams, Afsana brings together lived experience and professional expertise with a focus on patient-centered care, resilience, and advancing the transplant journey for others.
