Dr. Silva e Silva’s is an Assistant Professor at Brock University and a National leader in Organ Donation Research. As a former organ donation coordinator, her career has been devoted to improving the quality of organ donation programs and structures worldwide. Her research program include projects aimed at understanding and improving work-life experience of organ donation coordinator nurses, and improving the quality of donation processes, organ donation management, organ donation public awareness, equity and inclusion in donation and transplantation. Dr. Silva e Silva is a former Kidney Research Scientist Core Education Program (KRESCENT) fellow, and holds leadership positions within the Canadian Donation and Transplantation Research Program (CDTRP), co-leading theme 1 “Improve a Culture of Donation” of the , and the CDTRP Allied Research in Donation and Transplantation Working Group. Currently, she leads the investigation of burnout among donation coordinators (BRiC program), with the support and collaboration of Canadian Blood Services and key organ donation researchers nationally and internationally. She also co-leads a national educational initiative along with Dr. Amina Silva, the EDOT program (Education in Donation of Organs and Transplantation) and co-leads the national working group investigating organ donation practices after medical assistance in dying (OD-MAiD) along with Matt Weiss.
